A pioneering company that bottled the first Rioja wine in 1862 and went on to become the first non French winery to wine recognition at the Bordeaux Exhibition in 1895. Marques de Riscal is based in the Alava province of Rioja and are famous for their striking hotel designed by Frank Gehry and their collection of wines dating all the way back to the first vintage bottled in 1862.

The Gran Reserva is aged 28 months in French oak and spends a further 3 years in bottle. The wine has a deep rich colour of black cherry and is a complex blend of balsamic notes, toasted oak, mature fruit and concentrated tannins. A rounded long finish to end, this is a wonderfully balanced wine to enjoy with friends.
