Jaime Carlos Carvajal de Castrillon spent 25 years working with Gonzalez Byass and has also collaborated with Bodegas Barbadillo and Delgado Zuleta. He formed his own company, Carvajal SA, in 2014. He has two different focuses in his business – table wines and also fortified sherry wines. He worked with Bodegas Barbadillo to produce this red wine from the very south of Spain and they continue to collaborate on this project.

The wine has all the dark, cassis fruit of a classic Tintilla de la Rota wine but is nicely balanced out with the blend of grapes, all adding their own character to the mix. With 12 months in barrel and 10 months in bottle this is a surprisingly fresh and easy drinking red wine that suits a wide variety of meals including cured meats and cheeses.
